My husband just got the lancaster army recruiting station(in parkview plaza) and I was in search of some good info. about the area. We have a 6 year old daughter so finding a good school is a plus. I want to know what areas to stay away from and what areas are good. We will be looking for a place to live right around christmas and not moving in until right after the holidays. We both grew up in NOrtheastern PA but lived out of the state for 10 years. Any info. will help. thanks

Good places to look for homes; East Petersburg, Manheim, Lititz, Akron, Eden, Ephrata. All these areas have good schools and it's about a half hour commute to Park City (?)

Try to stay away from Lancaster city proper.

Welcome to Pa Dutch country!

And to you and your husband, THANKS for serving!

Son

I pretty much agree with Son, although I'm not a big fan of Ephrata. You may want to also consider Manheim Township and E-Town.

There are a number of areas that offer great school districts, where your husband can get to work quickly as well. Hempfield, Manheim Township, Warwick schools will all give you a quick commute to the Parkview Plaza and are great school districts.
