There is nowhere in Western PA, other than select areas of Pittsburgh, where your family will be accepted.

On a side note, don't move to Johnstown. The great schools do no offset the abysmal way of life. Johnstown has literally been falling apart for decades. The economy has been in a death-spiral since the 70s. Most people are extremely crude and uneducated.

This is probably mostly true, but I would add that Erie is more accepting of gays and has a live and let live attitude. I have met quite a few gay couples in Erie and they seem to be mostly accepted in the area. With that being said I live in a wealthy neighborhood of the city of Erie so my experiences may be different than the rest of the metro.
