22 and getting a job...advice please (Erie: apartments, loans, how much)

I want to get a job and move out of my parents house ASAP, at least for a while, and I can do and spend whatever I feel like without the need to inconvenience my parents too much. I live in the Erie metro area and have no means of private transportation.

There is more red tape: Like a lot of other one in whatever how many people in the United States, I have an autism diagnosis so then I qualify for the PA autism wavier, which provides proper things like job training, they train the autistic population in PA for other things too. So we have my plan and the plan of my support at odds here.

I just want to learn the skills needed ASAP without the red tape so I don't need to forego opportunities because it's not a convenient time or cost for my parents sometimes.

The 'ASAP' will not be soon. Some things take time.

I think your 1st step should be finding out what training is available to you, especially having to use public transportation.

Then take it from there.

Many of our young make mistakes - like moving or quitting jobs when they have no place to live or no prospect of another job. When you have a place to live and when you have a job is the time to look. Your ASAP sounds as if you are at odds with your parents. Supporting yourself is a big step. You could easily find yourself in the position where you are working to pay back loans and do not have the 'free' time that you dream about.

Do you have any skills or do you have any jobs in mind that you prefer? Lets say that you would like to be a mechanic, an electrician or veterinarian - have you contacted anybody to see if they are hiring or if they can give you advice? Let your Google do the walking and then follow up with phone calls or visits to the businesses. You asked for advice on this forum - take the next step. After you think you have a direction price apartments in the area of your job - possibly you have a friend or friends that are also looking for places to stay (they might want to share the rent?). While you are home; go shopping with your parents - see how much it cost just to buy your food and supplies for a week. What you want is some idea how much money you will have to make so that you can live without going into debt - which is the problem many of our young have.

This is a big first step and scary. You can make mistakes and most of us have made those mistakes at some time in our life. Just be cautious and use any tools at your disposal. Furthermore; good luck!

Are you saying your parents are hindering your job training because they say they don't have the time?

It's sad they're not taking it seriously. Apply for your PA autism waiver ASAP. You can do it on your own.

I will try to help, but can you please explain the autism waiver thing a little more? I am not sure how this program works and I am wondering what types of training are available to you and if it provides any type of housing or transportation assistance.
