Hello everyone, My husband and I want to move to PA in Feb. As close to nyc as possible, so far I know that the closest is Bushkill, easton, and Stroudsburg. They about an 1hr 30 mins, well for now I'm looking to rent sumthing low but spacious so I can save to buy a house. I am looking for a 3 bedroom house to rent we have 2 children, a 2yr old & a 10 yr old. I am in my early 20s but enjoy the peace n quite. I'm just worried that when we rent & the kids go to school, would the taxes be to high monthly? Plus we have to pay taxes twice bc he works in ny. So I'm mainly worry about expenses for everything including the supermarkets, clothing, gas & light, over here in nyc rent is crazy for a 3br 1250 and up plus it's not a house you rent it's a smally 1 fl apartment over there in pa it's the house you rent. Supermarkets forget it. Any info will help me about anything and everything. PLEASE HELP THANKS!!!!!!HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

I would put this in the NE PA forum. Finding rental houses is usually a challenge no matter what price range. Good luck on your move!

Not sure exactly what you are looking for but if your 1 hr and 30 min to nyc is an estimate for a daily commute from the areas mentioned its more like 2 to 2 1/2 hr commute to NYC. The good news is you do not pay taxes twice . If you live in Pa and work in NY, you pay income tax only to PA.

I believe there is a major UPS facility here in Pittston, PA, which would be about an hour from Binghamton, NY and about an hour from the Callicoon/Narrowsburg/Port Jervis area in NY. We're just over two hours to NYC. The cost-of-living here is much more affordable. Where is the facility in NY state that you'll be working in until you can possibly transfer to the UPS here in PA?
