We are still narrowing down where we want to move. How are the taxes in Quakertown as compared to Upper or Lower Macungie? We are looking at homes over 2500 sf and around .5 acres.

Thanks!

Hi 2Kids,

Taxes on that size home I think are going to be relatively close between Quakertown and Lower Macungie, I think probably just a bit higher in Lower Macungie. Post some info on streets/developments you're looking at and we can give you some numbers.

For Quakertown, you will want to look at the Brayton Gardens II development. Most of the homes are on half acre lots or larger, models sizes are all around 2500 sq ft. Taxes are mostly less than $6K in this development. The development is gorgeous. 200 homes, 100+ acres of open space, nature trails, and fenced fishing ponds. So many families with children! Fantastic schools, especially pre-schools and elementary are excellent. Very friendly community. Private and safe. 5 min from turnpike and close to everything else. Would be about 20 minutes to Allentown.

Price range in Brayton Gardens is under $400K for what you're looking for (if you can find a home to buy - lots of people in the area are looking to move into this development and homes don't seem to stay on the market very long!)

Default Taxes

You can get the millage rates for Macungie at Lehigh County Website
and for Quakertown at The Official site of Bucks County Pennsylvania. Go to Quakertown Community School District to see how you calculate what your total taxes will be. I don't know about Macungie, but in Quakertown the tax rates are different depending on if you live in the Borough or one of theTownships. Hope this helps.
