We are relocating from Maryland to PA and like the East Berlin area but don't know much of anything about it. Would appreciate some feedback on the area like the conveniences, etc. Grocery stores, gas stations, nearest hospitals and how safe it is there.
thank you

Well, for starters there are no remnants of any large, concrete walls.

I haven't been in East Berlin for a few years, but based on the times I have been there it is a typical, older, relatively small town in south central PA. It is reasonably nice but not super-nice. I'm pretty sure it has a Sheetz and/or Rutters, plus probably at least a couple other gas stations. I'm unsure if there are any grocery stores in town; I think the town is big enough that it probably has a grocery store or two. I'd guess the closest hospitals are in Hanover, York, and Gettysburg. The town is probably very safe except for the small number of typical, small town troublemakers.

East Berlin is one of those 1 street towns. Its very clean and aesthetically pleasing, almost has a colonial type vibe I think. Its really small, but it has a Rutters gas station and a nice restaurant at the corner of the square. I would be surprised if there is any crime whatsoever outside of youthful mischief. You are about 15 to 20 min straight shot into York, and even closer to Hanover. That is where you would probably go for most of your shopping and healthcare needs, but there is a small grocery store in town I think, unless it closed. Like with any town this size, you're going to have to drive to meet all your needs, but it really is a nice, little town in a beautiful rural setting.

Thank you JettaPA,
It seems to be a nice town and it's good to know that York is only 15 to 20 min away. So far we've liked what we have seen. We hope to check it out some more in the near future.

Thank you CHIP72,
lol, I was wondering how the town got it's name and come to find out it is actually named after the city in Germany. Pretty cool! I did see a Rutters I believe in town. It appears the nearest larger supermarkets are in York and Hanover which is relatively close. Good to know that the crime is very low also.
