If you hold a valid title issued in another state and have owned the vehicle for at least 6 months before moving to pa, no pa sales tax is required to be paid. If it has been less than 6 months, you must provide your sales tax reciept. Since De does not have a sales tax, you would not have a reciept and you would be required to pay the tax. If it was from a state that charged the sales tax, you would provide a reciept as proof.

I know I just transfered a business vehicle titled in De and registared in De, to my home in Pa and paid no sales tax because the vehicle was owned for more than 6 months in De.
Hi, can you provide a citation for this? thanks!!

Ok, I am getting ready to move from NC back to PA. I have paid off the balance of both my vehicle loans. They were both purchased well over a year ago, i assume i should not have to pay this right? Also, any idea of OH vehicle taxes or fees? Considering Eastern OH as well. Thanks

BTW, the answer to this is NO if you have owned/registered it for more than 6 months then you do not have to show proof of having paid tax and do not have to pay it at time of title/registration.

Sales Tax is required at 6% (7% for residents of Allegheny County and 8% for residents of the City of Philadelphia)
If the vehicle is owned less than six months sales tax is due
If the vehicle is owned more than six months, sales tax exemption #12 may be used; no sales tax is due.
