I was thinking of relocting to Maryland from Dallas,Texas after everything I heard, PA sounds like a MUCH better way to go!!! Now I am looking for a little help. It is for personal reasons and do plan on taking my time. I have been to a few towns in the state and loved what I saw. It also helps that I have a very close friend in southern PA. I am a 32yr old female and just looking for any first-hand information on a couple smaller cities or towns.

county specifics? there's lot of counties that border maryland... and everyone has their expertise. Even a generalization, like Adams and york area, or york or lancaster, chamberburg, breezewood, etc.

Changing your mind was a great idea. I recently relocated from Baltimore, Maryland to York, PA. While my husband still commuted to Baltimore each day to work, we find living in PA to be so much better.

I don't reallly know... I do know I do not want to be in far north PA and not in the middle of another true city (I am trying to get out of Dallas as it is). I am starting now and taking true suggestions. I am coming up in a few months to spend a few weeks just checking out different places. I just wanted to have a few norrowed down. Don't laugh... We bought a map and are "x" the places I know I do not want and circling the possiblilities.. have to start somewhere!!!

Is it a bad drive for him back into Baltimore each day?

Boy, do I know alot about this!

My husband and I were in PA and commuting to Baltimore for our jobs each day. The drive got to be a bit much when we had our daughter. She was 5 months old at the time, and I felt like I never got to see her much! Sooo, we made the decision to move to Baltimore. Granted, our commute to work is now only 10 minutes, however - after 3 years of living in Baltimore - we're moving BACK TO PA!! I would take the 1 hr commute in a heart beat over staying here.

We CANNOT wait; it's like we're counting down the days!

We're going to be in Southern York County - and we love it there. You're 5 minutes from downtown York, and there are tons of markets to visit on the weekends to get fresh fruits and vegetables. We also love visiting Red Lion on the weekends, too.

GO FOR IT! You'll love it. Without a doubt.

Thank you sooo much!!! I always knew, evan if I went to MD it would not be to Baltimore. The first time I flew in there I was scared!!! It is so different now. When I said I was moving to MD, people from MD were telling NO don't do it along with these horrible stories. Now with PA on the list it has been great recommendations and encouraging remarks! Thank you so much and goos luck and congrad. to you and your family!!

Hook em;

Do not use Baltimore as the paint to color MD, Baltimore is the absolute worst place in the state. It would be like saying dont move to PA b/c of philly.

Now, I would agree that PA is probably a better place to live. I moved from Baltimore 2 years ago. I lived in the county, which surrounds Baltimore City. The county is much different.

There are some good thinks about PA than MD. Lower cost of living is one. But your taxes will be higher.

But if you want to live in PA and commute to the baltimore area for work, then the drive is not so bad. there are many thread on this forum about that drive. I would search the phrase I 83 or york area, etc..

Yes, Yes...I agree with Orion. Not ALL areas of MD are like Baltimore. We lived in the Towson area (Baltimore County) at the time, which is a world of a difference from Baltimore City...but it was still not as pleasant as PA (in our opinion).

The drive really isn't that bad - I can deal with it. Its actually a REALLY good time to just get time alone and do some thinking! And...this may sound corny, but...the views of the sun rising as you drive down 83 in the morning can be breathtaking!

Definitely keep us posted, Hookem!

Thank you both!! Commuting is sounding better and better right now, just something else I will have to get use to, haha!

Everyone has pretty well sold me on PA. I went and bought a map of each state and started crossing off cities and/or areas I knew I did not want to live. MD was almost RED with "X"s. Now I just need to find a town/city in PA to call home!
