It snowed in October another year recently, at least in some areas.

I remember some early snows, but typically November, October was always dry when I was living in PA years back, though times are changing 2009 I think was the earliest record of snowfall in Central PA.

Is snowed a little (1-3") most years when I was in college in Pittsburgh. I think 2011, 2012, 2013.

One year when I was young we had a lot of snow trick or treating (back in the 90s).

EDIT: Pittsburgh got nearly 9 inches on halloween in 1993

Pittsburgh was always colder than my part of PA, I lived in the Susquehanna Valley, even if I went 30-45 miles North into North Central PA it would be slightly colder. I do recall a few times growing up that it snowed, or we had a dusting of snow on Halloween, 1970's and 80's. That's back when kids use to walk around without adults and if we got Apples we wouldn't eat them out of fear of razor blades thanks in part to the Halloween II movie scene with the kid and the razor blade in his mouth.

My memory may not be accurate, but I do not recall snow on Halloween EVER growing up in the Pittsburgh area. Usually you got too hot in your costume. It often rained. I do recall back in 2006 (I think) a few flakes of snow there in W PA when we were visiting in late October. We went to a wedding there on 10-10-10 and the leaves had barely begun to change.

In SE Pa the leaves are really beginning to change and the early leaves( red maples, yellow maples) are just about at their peak. The hills and woods are still mixed green and yellow with the peak leaves probably a good 2 or 3 weeks away. Generally the oaks and poplars turn later and we get more of a russet and gold range of color but there are reds as well. We may get our first frost this weekend. Snow is hard to guess, lately we've been getting some early snows in late October in the Poconos and higher elevations to the north but real snow hasn't come before January. But Spring seems to come later now, too.
