This is true. And to compare it to any other city's rush hour, is comical! You have a bottleneck, when the 422 hits Perkiomen Avenue. My experience is there is a slight crawl into that area between 5-6pm. Nothing major though. And let us not forget, they are going to be expanding that section of the 422 in the very near future, due to all of the new shopping expansions in the area. So, what little traffic congestion there is in Exeter should be relieved considerably.

Thank you very much everyone for posting so much information. You have all truly helped my wife and I in our search. We actually spent the day in the Reading area yesterday and feel that the Wyomissing area would be best for us. We also really liked the Sinking Spring area. I guess we were looking for something similar to Exton, PA (where we are now) and felt that both Wyomissing and Sinking Spring came close.

Thank you Gypsie for the link. There is some new contruction near both Wyomissing and Sinking Spring which we are going to look at next weekend. A realtor is the next step to make sure we are not missing anything.

Again, I want to thank all of you for your valuable information. We have benefitted from it greatly.

I actually had one other question. What would school taxes run on a home between $250k and $350k in the wyomissing/sinking spring area? Thanks.

Here is a link to Spring Township tax info. Township of Spring Tax Information

It gives you an example at the bottom. Keep in mind the "assessed" value may not be the total value of the home. It is a percentage of the real value based on Spring Townships assessment of land and structure.

In the FAQ link from that page the question is answered.

9. How can I figure out what I will pay in taxes on my property?
Take your Assessed Value of your property, if known, and multiply this number by 0.0015 (Township Millage); 0.0005 (Fire Protection Millage); Assessed Value of your property, if known, and multiply this number by 0.005185 (County Millage); Assessed Value of your property, if known, and multiply this number by 0.01490 (School Real Estate Millage).
Since assessed value is based on when the home was built due to the assessment being more recent, a newer home will be assessed higher or more current than an older home of the same size, etc.

Good luck!

Exeter is a nice area and has a good school system; however, I would recommend the Wyomissing, West Lawn, Sinking Spring area. The Wyomissing and Wilson school districts are top notch. It is much more convenient to live there - there's a lot more shopping and acitivity. It is a very family oriented area, and the drive into center city takes like 10-12 minutes at most and is easier than going from Exeter, because you have to go 422 from Exeter. It's an extremely safe area as well.
