how close to the elk were you and where exactly were you when you saw the elk, like what road were you on and where at on that road?

Actually, you can see them in many places all along Rt 555, heading to Benezette, and Sinnemahoning.

These shots were taken on Rock Hill Road, off of 555, about the middle of the hill, and yes I was THAT close to them...I literally did not have to exit my vehicle. They were right at the forest's edge.

Most times, you'll see them, they can be in someone's yard.

The one place I've NEVER seen them: The overlook on Winslow Hill.

The best times to see them: early morning, or evening at twilight.

Great pics! We've been there and the elk are surprisingly tame and docile. But I wouldn't get too close. You were smart to stay in your car. The fall rut is the best time to get a look. Looks like these photos were taken sometime after that.
