My Partner & I want to move out of NYC but we both work in NYC. I've always live in Bronx, NY. My partner is a taxi driver I work at an investment firm. We want to move to an affordable and safe area (pref apartments) we were looking at Union city but not too much options. Any area in NY that you guys recommend? We will commuting in a car.

Closest to NYC is Delaware Water Gap, PA. Literally walking distance to the NJ border along Route 80. There is a Martz bus station in town as well, if you get tired of driving or if the car breaks down, etc. Hispanic not a problem.

There is a garden apartment complex there, but only one. I'm sure there are other rentals in town.

School district is Stroudsburg which is "one of the good ones" out here, as folks say.

But I must say, with a 5 year old child and both of you in NY all day, well it seems like a long time and a long way away from him. It sounds like you don't have relatives or close friends out here. What happens when he gets sick, or school gets snowed out or there's a 2-hour delay? You might want to check for apartments in NJ again.
