Considering that BOTH of the Analyst's in this article are PA residents, I can't imagine why.

Nothing earth-shuddering, but just good to see Google is committed to growing the Burgh. Just feeds that tech, life science, educational eco-system that is taking over Pittsburgh.

Quote:
Google chose Pittsburgh to make three major announcements today

Google chose Pittsburgh to make some major announcements today and brought in its top guy to do it. At a press conference at Bakery Square, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, announced Grow with Google, “free training, tools and events to help grow skills, career or business.” Pichai also announced a program of $1 billion in grants globally for nonprofits, along with a $10 million partnership with Goodwill and a million volunteer hours from Google employees to help Americans prepare for the tech-centric jobs of the future.

“I remain a technology optimist,” Pichai told a large gathering that included Gov. Tom Wolf, Mayor Bill Peduto and PA House Speaker Mike Turzai. “At Google, we believe information is for everyone.”

How did the City of Brotherly Love climb so high? Respondents told us that Mayor Jim Kenney has actively
championed a startup culture
and helped funnel more resources to local entrepreneurs through programs such
as StartUp PHL, a partnership between the city’s Department of Commerce and its public-private economic
development corporation that provides funding and mentorship to entrepreneurs in Philadelphia

Anyway, another hint that Pennsylvania could be serious about this .... I mean Wolf, Toomey and Casey in a 'come together' moment in this political climate ... UNHEARD OF!

Pa. leaders send letter to Amazon encouraging state as HQ2 choice

U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) signed the letter, along with Wolf and state house members hoping the Seattle-based company will consider Pennsylvania for its HQ2 as the Oct. 19 deadline for Requests for Proposals approaches.

Another List - both Philly and the Burgh makes the short list

Quote:
Where Amazon's Next Headquarters Should Go

If the geography category is included, Philadelphia moves from third place to first place and Pittsburgh moves up to second place. The geography category includes distance from Amazon’s existing headquarters as one variable. Arguably, Amazon will want to diversify into a different labor market as much as possible; therefore we award points for metro areas farther away from Amazon’s Seattle headquarters. In addition, we award points to regions based on our subjective assessment of the regional advantages. The Northeast scores the highest because of the access to the economically important Northeast Corridor and the political power center of Washington DC. Finally, this category awards points for the number of Amazon fulfillment centers in the state and distance to Jeff Bezos' closest non-Seattle homes. Taken together, geography helps bring Pennsylvania’s two metro areas to the top of the list.

Hahahaha... you can't stand it! So typical of you.

A highly analytical, highly fact driven source such as the US Chamber of Commerce, ranks Philadelphia high in innovation, and you call it bologna! You are too hilarious. You cannot stand when Philadelphia is ranked high.

...BUT, the extremely subjective, no-fact sources such as WalletHub and Apartments.com which rank Pittsburgh high in extremely subjective and unverifiable things like "Qualify of Life", are the end all be all validations that Pittsburgh is better than Philadelphia?

You seriously can't give credit where credit is due can you? You really can't see that while Pittsburgh has pushed to get small satellite offices from a few large tech companies to open there, Philadelphia has taken steps to completely revamp it's economy... and not only draw in small satellite branches of existing companies, but grow it's own ecosystem of tech, pharmaceutical, bio, etc. etc. companies through innovation and start-up incubators.

If you looked at the article provided, it shows that Philadelphia jumped 5 spots in the innovation rankings between 2016 and 2017.

The top 10 looked like this in 2016:

1.Boston
2. Bay Area
3. Denver
4. Raleigh-Durham
5. San Diego
6. Austin
7. Los Angels
8. Philadelphia
9. Washington DC
10. New York City

Since then, things have changed. Philadelphia increased 5 spots. I know you think that things aren't changing in Philadelphia, and that Pittsburgh is the one doing all the changing, but WAKE UP and see the facts. Philadelphia is changing at a faster clip than Pittsburgh.

You truly are troubled.
