Has it been reported to the local Ag office or are they already aware?

I saw this article on the Lancaster newspaper’s website. Scroll about halfway down the page, and you’ll see a gray box labeled “What to do if you spot a lanternfly” with some instructions to follow. Among the instructions is a mention to call the PA Department of Agriculture at 1-888-422-3359.

From that link here is a check list of items we are not suppose to move out of the quarantine counties without checking for signs of the lanternflies: https://www.agriculture.pa.gov/Plant...11-12-2014.pdf. It is pretty extensive and I have to wonder if there is any real way to stop this invasion? They do not mention our cars and trucks in that link.

Currently there are 13 PA Counties listed. It would not surprise me if that number does not grow considerably in the coming years. This pest can easily be the death blow to many trees that have been attacked by multiple invasive pest.

I am in Chester County. Went to a local Giant about a ways north of me near Pottstown, and they were swarming everywhere. Thousands of them. Disgusting. People were running to and from their cars as they were getting on them en masse.

That's why I don't think we stand a snowball's chance in hell to stop this invasion. Nobody is going to crawl around on a car creeper to inspect their vehicle before they travel. Think of all the long distance commuters we have on the road everyday. We will spread these far and wide and fast.

Spotted one in Malvern on Wednesday. I'd read about them in the news and easily recognized it.

Did you report your sighting at: https://extension.psu.edu/spotted-lanternfly? The idea is that maybe we could slow their invasion. At the same time that location is close to the epicenter of our PA invasion. But it would still be interesting to know our State's response.

Yes, I reported it, and did so when I first started seeing them earlier in the summer.
