I thought I'd start a new thread about "the strip" for things other than Monroe Marketplace. I know it's technically Hummels Wharf/Monroe Township and Shamokin Dam, but it's usually referred to as Selinsgrove even though it's not in the borough itself.

Anyone heard a definite date for the Golden Grill and Buffet opening?

Anyone know what's going on at the old Rag Shop? There's a huge dumpster and activity inside but no signs or any indication of what's coming, if anything.

How about updates on the old Ruby Tuesday? I've heard some rumors but nothing definite.

It's sad to drive down the strip and see how many empty places there are. I hope they fill up and bring jobs and prosperity to our area.

From what I'm hearing it's a "go" again, thanks to some hard work by the local Thruway Association and Congressman Chris Carney.

Someone posted in another thread that there's a rumor the old Rag Shop building will be an Aaron's. I looked them up and they seem to be like a Rent-a-Center.

Also, the same person said Mifflnburg Bank and Trust will be going in where Susquehanna Bank was across from Long John Silver's.

Let us know if you hear anything else!

I was at the Tri County tag place (or whatever its called) Saturday, and they had no idea when the Golden Grill and Buffet is opening, I thought maybe they would know, just being down the street from the restaurant.

I've probably asked this before somewhere but I don't remember the answer.

What type of food will the Golden Grill have? Whenever I see "Golden" in a name I think Asian/Chinese food, but is that the case here, or is it more like what Golden Corral was?

I don't think you'll see Chinese on their menu. I talked to the manager and it will be a lot like the old Golden Corral. Unlike Hoss's, the buffet will have food other than salad, and you can also order steaks.
