I have spent some of my best times on my bike roaring through remote parts of PA. Places that you you'd think time forgot. Giong north: Dushore, Towanda, Coudersport, Kane, St. Marys, Ridgway. Tidioute etc. etc. Have people panicked? Are small businesses closed? Have small contractors stop working jobs? How's the traffic.

from Tioga County here. Not really panicking but definitely cautious. Traffic has decreased a lot. Shopping carts are fuller, (my observation) indicating I think fewer shopping trips. A lot of things are closed. Mostly WalMart, Lowe's and grocery stores open. Schools and libraries closed, concerts and other get-togethers cancelled. Even recycling has stopped.

people are respecting the 6 ft distance. A few people are wearing masks but not many. Not sure of the hospital's status yet. As of yesterday (haven't checked today) we've only got 2 cases. Subject to change of course.

Hence my eternal question: How, or who, did this virus get to places like Tioga, Potter, Elk, McKean, Forest where there are more cows than people? Did the camp owners from Pittsburgh come up to hide like happened in Clarion or what?

Probably people escaping from somewhere.

Here in Pike Co there's quite a few cases and it's probably NYers fleeing to their second home.

could be but pointing fingers is pointless IMHO. Whether it got here from someone visiting, escaping, or maybe a trucker passing through, it's here. We've known it was coming. We will deal with it as best we can because that's how life in rural PA is.

I was thinking Amazon Prime shipment, but it really doesn't matter.

The "how" of it spreading is important, though, and it's not finger pointing.

I live in a County that's on the hot spot list for Maryland (although it doesn't comparatively have many cases) and, until the release of information was clamped down, had one person profiled who tested positive who had been in three convenience stores, two car dealerships, two different groceries, and several other retailers in one day from one end of the County to the other.

We also had one young woman call in sick to her job saying she'd "tested positive". She hadn't, it came out later she just wanted a day off but her employer closed to decontaminate the store. Which ended up not mattering because another employee, involved in the cleanup, did come up positive. The owners then had to close two locations (7-11 stores that traded employees).

How would knowing that change anything? The damage was already done.
