Right now, at 1:30 Sunday morning, I am listening to the music blaring from two neighbors. Sometimes it can be as many as four or five different neighbors. It really doesn't bother me since I work nights. Right after the first cases of coronavirus came in the US one neighbor started setting up party lights. So here is my speculation: People did not officially stop drinking or socializing in bars, they just moved to private homes.

The bad thing is, if my speculation is correct, is there are no controls for private homes. Bars have to be licensed and comply with all of our State mandates. Such as social distancing and wearing masks when not consuming food or spirits. The number of toilets and urinals is controlled as well as underage drinking and hours of operation. Plus inspectors can and will visit from time to time. That does not even mention that they had to meet building codes to get licensed. Officially these 'unofficial bars' do not exist.

The one house that is parting right now is an older home with a hand laid cesspool. Of course, it will not be long before they have major septic problems.

Have other CD posters noticed a shift to private bars? Is this an unforeseen consequence of shutting down our bars and restaurants? Is this something that we really want or should we worry?

[Great question and something I hadn't considered before but it's not really a topic for the PA forum. Maybe you want to stick it into the re-opening PA thread.
