I get what he's saying. Treasure Lake residents are active on the Facebook groups, but it's not a huge community. CityData is at best a niche forum for urban areas.

My wife and I just recently (November) bought our retirement home on Treasure Lake, but I would not have thought to check here for such a rural area. On the other hand, when we were looking for our home in the DC area, this was the first place I thought of looking.

We still own our house in Northern Virginia, and I won't retire for another 1.5 to 3.5 years. We are definitely looking forward to the time we can make our lake home our primary residence. For future searchers of this thread, we love Treasure Lake and think it's an amazing community.

I'm rural and about 65 miles from Pittsburgh and I'm on this site. There really isn't that much traffic on the Pittsburgh forum. It seemed to die off about 5 years ago.

I understand that a Facebook group would make more sense for people at Treasure Lake to discuss topics specific to TL.

Have you ever lived in a rural area, and make no mistake-DuBois and environs are rural, before?

If not be prepared for some culture shock, especially coming from NoVA. Then there's the difference in weather.

DuBois is the I-80 exit that you take when Aunt G can't make it from Wilkes-Barre to IU without using a bathroom. That's all I've got.

I grew up in a rural area and can't wait to get back. We will be snow birds and travel south for the Winters.

DuBois is a nice stop between Hermitage Pa I 80 entrance and the exit off I 80 at Snowshoe. Its got a Long John Silver's there and that's a plus if you don't have one near you( we don't) and you want a break from fast food burgers while travelling.
Treasure Lake reminds me of a lower rent Eagles Mere which is not a slight.
