I usually hold out for the Flying J in Brookville. It's where I exit I-80 westbound to head to Erie anyway.

I probably could have made it to Punxsutawney, but DuBois has/had more businesses.

It's called, 'The PA Wilds'~

The small town of Wellsboro is actually quite touristy.

You'll like Wellsboro. People are very friendly: they'll say hi to you on the street even if they don't know you. Main street has lots of stores including a home grown department store. For a small village, there are surprising cultural venues plus lectures and events put on by nearby Mansfield University. Corning and the "finger lakes" are not very far away.

That's one big reason I decided upon Wellsboro instead of Dubois. From my perception, Wellsboro seems slightly more upscale, more upbeat. The town itself seems less rundown than DuBois, perhaps Wellsboro will make a comeback and thrive once again. Time will tell~

Wellsboro did lose 3 of their large industrial employers: Osram Sylvania, Eagle Brand (Borden) evaporated milk and the Hitachi Nukabe automotive parts plant but the fracking industry more than made up for the loss. Also farming and dairying are still big in Tioga County although most farmers will complain about not making enough money.

So Wellsboro is still prosperous though not as prosperous as in the past.

Are there people still employed in the fracking industry around Wellsboro? I thought everything had moved to Ohio.
