We are looking at a house in Cogan Station. (North of Williamsport). We were hoping some locals could answer some general questions for us...
(1) Is town prone to flooding and do most people get flood insurance?
(2) Where do most people shop. (Willliamsport?)
(3) Are winters bad i.e. do roads get plowed promptly.
(4) Closest best hospital in area.
(5) How is internet service?
(btw we are retired and/or remote workers & do not care about job environment &/or school system).
TIA for any help/recommendations.

Lycoming Creek, which runs through the Township, can overflow its banks during hurricanes, tropical storms or if an ice dam blocks the flow. Why bother paying for flood insurance when you can buy a house outside of the flood area?

Comcast Cable serves the township but may not be available in all areas.

The nearest supermarket is the Weis Market located just south on Lycoming Creek Road. Wegmans, Giant and Aldi are not that far away.

The Lycoming Mall (40 minutes away near Muncy) is practically deserted. Some of the stores have moved to a strip shopping center nearby where there is a Target. Walmart is 20 minutes away in Montoursville.

Winter snow removal is pretty good and Route 15 (soon to be known as I-99) is a major north south artery.

The only hospital in the area is the Williamsport Hospital. It's a tertiary hospital and now part of UPMC.
