If you are looking for liberal, and are currently working as a teacher, you should really, really consider either Philadelphia, or to work in the Balitmore region as a teacher.

My husband worked in the Balitmore area as a teacher for the year, and they are super liberal. Also, they are crying for teachers in certain areas (i.e. Baltimore County, Prince Georges County, Balitmore City, Anne Arundel County, etc.). There are tons of trails set up for biking and walking throughout the state, as well as planned communities to promote these sort of activities. Plus, you are close to the ocean...need I say more.

The cost of living is high in Maryland, but probably similar to Denver...not to mention they are some of the highest paid teachers in the nation. Since you worked in an urban school before and have experience, they would probably hire you immediately after interviewing you.

So basically, I am recommending that you move to the Baltimore region based on what you told me about yourself and your husband.
