Having guns is simply part of living in a rural area, and most Pennsylvanians I've met aren't obsessed with the guns they own. If you live in an area distant from any kind of police force, it makes good sense to have a firearm, or several. You have to be self-reliant if you are going to live away from the suburbs and cities.

I've also known people who relied on seasonal hunting and fishing for part of the food supply for their family.

There's a huge difference between being accepting of guns -- and trained from childhood on their safe and appropriate use -- and being obsessed and kooky about having guns. Kooks can be found in every state, and I don't think Pennsylvania has the monoply on gun nuts.

Alaska and Vermont certainly have PA beat in the pro-gun category.

Hay, I just moved here to Pa and I wish to buy a glock just to shoot at the range (SO FUN) and to protect myself inside of my home.

So my questions are:

What do I need to do in Pa as far as paperwork/test/background check to be legally able to own a gun?

Where should I buy a new glock?

Where can I take classes to learn how to clean and operate the gun.

PA is OK, Texas is good as is Florida but Vermont,Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming,Utah are all even better. I'm not sure which States are class 3 States but they have to be among the best for gun owners. Full auto rules!

I'm sorry, I don't live in PA and can't answer your questions but I want to congratulate you on deciding to use your Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Your selection of a Glock is also sound and most of all your desire to learn to maintain and handle it correctly.

Morphous01, if you're anywhere near Clarion check out Rte 66 Sporting Goods. Good shop, very helpful staff. If they can't set you up with the necessary training, etc. they can point you to it. I've gotten two shotguns there in the last year.
Grice's in Clearfield is also a good place. Used to be a shop in Brookville but the owner retired and couldn't find anyone to take over the business. There is a small shop outside there on 322 West that seems to have a large selection of handguns.

Ohh absolutely, I would not want it any other way... Lucky when I was living in California I met a guy who was very knoledgeable with guns and he told me the glock is the best as you can drop it in the sand under the water and later on pick it up and start shooting again...lol

I went to the range with him as well and he taught me the basics on how to shoot; I did not do too bad Man was it fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
