Hello there,
We recently moved to York so I am still unsure of where all the township/borough boundaries are but Spring Grove is near us- a bit
north. We live in York Township which is in the south east part of York County. Our school district is Dallastown and we love the schools. They are relatively small and our son is getting much more individual attention than he did when we were in California. We have really nice parks and the area has beautiful big trees. My neighbor works for Glatfelter and his drive is about 15-20 mins.

Do you enjoy living in the York area? My home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland is up for sale, and I am moving to the suburbs of York as soon as I make that sale. I fell in love with the area, but I have never lived there (have only visited).

I graduated from college in York in May afer 4 years. The area does have it's advantages and disadvantages.

Advantage
1)Cost of Living. For what you get for $200,000 in York costs you about $400,000 in metro Ny.

2)Lots of County Parks. I like going to Lake Redman and John Ruby Park.

3)Lots of Golf Courses. I can think of about 5 within 10 minutes of the campus

4)Prominity to larger cities but not being completly issued.

5)Farms and rural areas.

6)York College is a great school.

7)Having some of the chain stores.

Disadvantages
1)The smell from the papermill 10 miles away
2)Traffic. Where I live now the area is about twice as large with a lot less traffic.
3)Sprawl
4)Inferiority Complex compared to major areas
5)Food. I found it difficult to find good Chinesse and Italian Food, being from the northern suburbs of NYC.
6)Life seems to revolve around Walmart, NasCar, Pick-up trucks, Hunting and football.
7)High Crime in York City
8)Resentment to outsiders and college students.
9)The only real shopping options are the chain stores.

The sad part about York county is it's another place in PA that has some great urban towns and boroughs, but the countryside is being completely destroyed and overrun with disgusting sprawl.
