Wa.Xing/Yardley/Newtown-the good, bad, & schools advice pls? Help? (Washington: car insurance, houses)

Ok, so we considered moving to NJ, but after looking at all the comments on the NJ forum there about ppy taxes, car insurance, traffic etc., we've now reconsider and may just move to PA.

Can someone tell me specific areas/neighborhoods/subdivisions in either Wa. Crossing, Yardley or Newtown to look for a house in an area with an excellent school.

We can afford upto $550-$600K for a house. Nice neighborhood, not cookiecutter houses, tree-lined backyards would be nice.

Our child is advance and will need a school that can accommodate her needs and provide stimulating activities so she doesn't get bored.

We're looking for a good family oriented, safe neighborhood. Where people actually say hi and wave to you as you pass by on the street. We're looking for a "main street" type of downtown that's walkable and interesting (prefer but not necessary)

Is there such a place?

Newtown and Washington Xing are in the Council Rock school district which is excellent. Yardley is in the Pennsbury school district which is pretty good but not quite as good as Council Rock. Yardley has a lovely downtown with all the amentaties including a small pond in the center which people skate on in winter (very Norman Rockwell). Newtown also has a nice downtown and even has a movie theatre and a GAP. Washington Xing is small, quite and of course historical.
