I'm new to the topic of South Central PA. Would someone fill me in on what and where "the smell" is?

TIA.

I though "the smell" was referencing the chocolate in Hershey!

Anytime someone says "the smell" I think of spring grove.

Anyone that's been within atleast 5 miles of the place can smell sauerkraut from the paper plants there.

Last time I checked, Harrisburg was still a city. The capital city, no less. And it's not THAT small.

I suggested a "central PA" sub-forum, which would include H-burg, Reading, State College, Williamsport (etc) - basically areas not yet covered. Besides, people don't come here just to discuss cities, but areas around cities and nearby towns as well.

Doesn't make any sense to me not to have, but whatever....

That region is far too large. In my opinion our state's ideal set-up would be the following:

CITY SUB-FORUMS:

Erie (1-County Area)
Philadelphia (5-County Area)
Pittsburgh (9-County Area)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (3-County Area)

REGIONAL SUB-FORUMS

Lehigh Valley (2-County Area)
South Central Pennsylvania (8-County Area)
Pocono Mountains (4-County Area)

Yes, I would split the NEPA sub-forum in half into separate sub-forums for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Poconos since the current forum has become so active.

Good setup I think. The ideal setup (in my opinion) would be to have a forum for the Harrisburg metro (Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Lebanon including the cities of Carlisle, Hershey and Lebanon) a forum for Lancaster/Reading (since the two are closely tied and Philly exurban) or a separate forum for Lancaster county and Berks county. Also, a forum for York/Adams county covering York and Gettysburg.
