DH and I both went to school in Millersville. It's a nice small town outside of Lancaster, close to route 30 for easy access to Philly, etc. The townspeople there were very friendly.

Hi Howellnj,
I use to live in Howell also! My development was Woodstone..
Then we lived in Oakley Hill in Jackson. We have been in Fla. for 6 years and we have the house up for sale and moving back up. We are looking in the Wayne County area of N.E. Pa.

We went to Lancaster alot for vacations. There are lots of Amish people there. It has gotten much more populated since we were there about 11 years ago.

Jersey is so crowded now. My mom and dad and my sister and her husband and kids live in Millstone, Manalapan.

Hi,
Nice to hear from you! I have a friend that lives in Woodstone. Yeah Lancaster is getting really crowded, much different than When my family started going there in the late 80's. There's some thing there that I just like though. What part of Florida are you moving from?? I thought about Florida but It's just to flat for me. It's getting so expensive here in NJ. I want to leave but there is just something that's keeping me here, I think it's the beaches and boardwalk's there is nothing like Point Pleasant and wildwood (if you remember those) I know that's a silly reason.
Well hope you have luck
Howell NJ

Hey Howell!

I remember Point Pleasant really well. My and my hubby and the kids use to go down after dinner. The kids used the metal detector to find coins.
We sat near a house that played Frank Sinatra music. It has a big porch and a real big BBQ.

Jersey is getting way too expensive, that is why we are going to Wayne/Pike Counties in Pa. It is so beautiful there.

Lancaster is another favorite of ours. I love going on the old train and to Millers for dinner. We also love the bakery by the name of Michael's. I don't know if they are still there, but when we move back up we will have to take a ride to see!
We are in Charlotte County Florida right now. It is way too flat...no hills at all.

I can tell you Lancaster is definately not what it used to be. Very bad crime rate now!I would definately not move there. Really nice areas not far from Lancaster are: Annville( a very nice, quiet college town), Cleona(Very small, but very nice), Palmyra(dry town, but nice) and Hershey(beautiful. very nice)Lancaster, Harrisburg and Reading are great places for shopping and some nitelife, but not too live.

Live in the burbs of Lancaster. The closer to the city you live (I don't think I'd move into the city) the less amish you encounter. Also if you live in the western part of the county there aren't so many amish. The further east, northeast and southeast you go in the county the more amish you run into.

Manheim Township is number one in the county for schools. Hempfield and Lampeter Strasburg are very good as well.

The people here do not warm up to outsiders, no matter how long you live here. I was attracted to the area while visiting several times and moved here three years ago and have lived to regret it.
