I know the Harborcreek Mall on Erie's east side has been vacant since 1998. I was curious if anyone on here could tell me the old tenants of the building?

I saw a story on the Erie news about it a few nights ago how they want to get the building appraised so it can be better marketed.

From the story I saw there was formerly a Loblaw's. What else was in this "mall"?

I remember the night firefighters burned the old house (McGregor's?), so that the land could be cleared for the mall's construction. And then for months after that, it was just a huge expanse of mud before building began. Lots of skeeters and stuff. Yick.

Anyway, aside from Loblaw's: a liquor store, a drug store, a small restaurant, one or maybe even two local savings and loans, a kids' clothing store, or maybe the Holly Shop, or something similar? There were never more than about seven or eight stores in the enclosed portion of the mall. I was always hoping for a record store. Another hope dashed in my teen years, LOL.

Marine Bank was in the outlot to the west of the main mall entrance at Nagle Road; I think a bank still operates out of the building, don't know for sure or which one.

Bob Loblaw went to school in Pittsburgh. Kids called him blah blah blah.

As i understand, once they get an appraisal, the intention is to remove any buildings that are there, then see if anyone is interested in the open space. The building(s) have been vacant for 15 years.

^^Which is precisely how long my mom has been complaining about it being "a blight on our community."

Which it is, but I'm still fascinated at the way the grass grew so nicely to cover the parking lot. It looks better than my lawn.

My mom wants someone to build one-floor condomimiums there. Always looking out for #1, she is.

I'm guessing the mall was built in 1973-ish?

Read above for what was there before.
