I am researching Germantown Ave/Pike from its beginning near the Delaware River in Fishtown, Phila. to its end at the base of the Perkiomen Bridge just entering Collegeville, PA.

I will use the material to publish a book and possibly a video DVD of the life of the road. Your contributions will bring the works to life. If you have any stories of your life and or your family's or friend's personal lives living or working along Germantown Ave/Pike or very near to it, please post me. sendto: < 63z93hh02@sneakemail.com >

Stories and pictures of Stetson Hat Factory, Toll Houses, Sheep drovers, fisherman, Perkiomen Bridge Hotel, Chestnut Hill Hotel, PA School for the Deaf, PRT, PTC, SEPTA trolley operator, Germantown and Chelten Business District, any of these type stories and photographs are the type material needed.

Thanks in advance(TIA),
Damyon

Speaking of the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (PSD) in Philadepiha. Have you tried the museum on the campus? They may have everything you are looking for.

Website: PSD.org

You could try contacting somebody over at PA. Society f/t Advancement of the Deaf. PSADweb.org

Default Germantown Information

You also might try Carpenter Hall in Germantown.

One of my ancestors built that building. I have never been there, as I live in Oklahoma, but I understand it is still there. If you find any information on John Martin (Johannes) Offner or Henry (Heinrich Zimmerman) Carpenter, I would appreciate getting the information.

Phillyblog.org forums have 3 sets of photos from Germantown Ave:
Northern Liberties, West Kenzo, Hartranft, Fairhill, Nicetown-Tioga (http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/showthread.php?t=7318 - broken link)
Germantown and Mount Airy (http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/showthread.php?t=7367 - broken link)
Chestnut Hill (http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/showthread.php?t=7459 - broken link)

You could probably talk to the person who posted them if you want to use them for something.
