I'm building a house in Bushkill and both my wifes Verizon cell phone and my Cingular cell phone don't get any reception in most areas in Bushkill, Pike County. Anyone have any suggestions for a cell phone carrier with good reception?

I live in Wayne county and have Verizon also and I have the same problem. Cell towers are far and few between so it really doesn't matter which carrier you use, you don't get much reception in many areas of northeastern Pa. After living here a while, I learned where to pull over to make my phone calls. I cannot depend on a cell phone for use at home. Sometimes it does not work at all and when it does work, it frequently drops the calls. Living in the mountains, you just learn to deal with it.

My experience with Verizon cell phone service has been sketchy. Most times my calls go through but are often dropped. I did receive great reception outdoors in front of my lot in Greentown and the call wasn't dropped. I guess it's hit or miss. I guess I won't depend on cell service once we move there.

No, you cannot depend on cell service. I find that the weather often affects mine. If they would just permit more towers it would help. My cell phone works great though over at the Viewmont Mall. But then, that is within the Verizon area. I am "out of network" at my home. But.....I still favor Verizon service over all the others. Just my preference. Oh, and for the first few years I lived here (moved in 1996) we had to be sure and get a phone that would work with analog. There was no digitial service here. Now we have digital...but being I am "out of network", I cannot download stuff and some features won't work here. Just one of the inconveniences of living in a rural area.

In my experience, Verizon works best, but service is not truly great for any carrier I know of.

cellular one has 26 towers in wayne and pike counties. verizon uses the cellular one network for their calls in the counties. cellular one has the best coverage and service, plus they have a customer service center in honesdale, so you can actually talk to people, not an 800 number answering somewhere. it's a very nice company, thanks, mark

how about shohola/greeley area? So far, the only cells that work here at my house are TracPhone and Cingular. Wondering about anyone else's experiences in the Route 434 area.

My ex-boyfriend lived in Bushkill, and only Verizon worked at his home. My AT&T phone did NOT work for MOST of the trek to his home once I exited I-84!

FWIW, there are a couple of sites that allow people to register their experiences with cell service:

Mobiledia

SignalMap

I find both rather interesting in terms of information.
