As compared to Carroll Valley the taxes are a bit more reasonable in the Waynesboro area. I don't live there, but live about a 1/2 hour from there. I like the area up there as it has more farms.

Wyanesboro is a great area. It has an ex-urban feel but is still close to larger towns and cities.

Here are a few links that may be of help:

Waynesboro, PA Fire Department (because of your user name)

The Borough of Waynesboro

Yes, Walmart does exist out in Waynesboro. It is located on 12751 Washington Township Blvd. There is also a Sam's Club in Hagerstown, MD at 1700 Wesel Blvd. There are a few grocery stores also including Martin's which is part of the Giant Food chain. In the NYC area, this is equivalent to a Stop N Shop. There is also a Food Lion in the area.

There are lots of things to do in the region, mainly because of the Civil War history of Gettysburg and Antietam. You also have the proximity to Washington, DC, Baltimore, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and it's about a four hour drive (at least the way I drive) back to NYC.

Also, if you are interested, there are lots of different types of restaurants in Hagerstown, MD.

Hope this helps.

We also may be moving to the Waynesboro/Chambersburg area soon...is Ryan still building in Spring Run in Waynesboro? What is the commute like from the Spring Run area to Chambersburg on I-81?
