Hi,
I am new to this forum. I want to let you all know the unprofessional ways of some mortgage lenders/agents.

I am trying to refinance my home currentlty at aigh rate to a lower one; I was contacted by a lender and started working with them. They provided the Good Faith estimate for the FHA laon and I signed the same and faxed it to them.
They selected their own appraiser and told me to pay up for it.I agreed.
The appraiser turned up and to my surprise, I found that he was a trainee.
I helped him around and after 15 min, the regular appraiser turned up; she was not interested in waht was going on, she kept chattering away; I asked her questions and se told me that the Furnace is making some noise (My furnace is brand new), I told her that it is probably the cladding is loose and the maintenence is due in 2 weeks and I will get it fixed.
Toward the end, I asked her again what are her findings and anything that I should take care of; she had nothing more to say.
I was notified the next day by the lender taht that there were 6 ot 7 issues that she had reported (she DID NOT even pay attention to anything nor was she observing anything).some of these were ridicoulous; for example. she said that the wooden sides of the house needs repair- my house is all brick; the second ridicoulous item was that the 'wooden' block in front of the house need fixing- there is no wooden block in ont of the house.
I have done 2 FHA appraisals and the recent one was last year; I had no issues so far.
I immediately called the lender and told them that the appraisal was not professionally done and due to an unsatisfactory service , I am putting the check on hold. They confirmed that the appraisal report is not ready and will ask the appraisal company to stop activity on it.
I went out of the country and returned after 18 days, and tried to refinance with another local lender; I was surprised to know that the previous lender was holding the FHA case number hostage.
I was forced to paying the appraisal cost; I honored the payment and still there is not response from the lender; I called, sent 3 emails and still no response.
Please advice on how to handle this issue.
Thanks,

A hapless & helpless home owner who is trying to save his home.
