We are a rather conservative family that likes great shopping, outdoor adventure and need housing not over 200k...Can we find a home in good school district and low crime for 200 or less? Thanks in advance to all who answer!

Hanover and Mcsherrystown are both nice areas, lots of new development. also consider gettysburg, it is a small town with basically a strip of malls and shopping. several parks and lakes and the appalachian trail run right through the area. lots of people down that way have horse and farms. im sure if you looked youd be able to find move homes at realtor.com and pennlive.com. stay away from inner york city and a few areas of carlisle (pitt, west and laouther are bad), other than that thats all the crime you'll find besides underage drinking and noisy annoying teenagers.

I'd definitely recommend Gettsyburg. There's an outlet mall right off of Route 15 for some great shopping. Adams County and Gettysburg are beautiful area. Gettysburg is also a college town, and they have one of a handful of Lutheran seminaries in the country.

Default Hanover or someplace close to it....

My husband and I moved to New Oxford. A small town between Gettysburg and York. It's all about history here, so the town is very small and well kept. People are very friendly and stores, malls, and restaurants are very close by. We really like the area and I feel safe here even when he has to work third shift. Gettysburg is also very nice, but has a few bad areas. As far as Hanover, I wouldn't feel safe walking downtown at night. Just like a lot of places, it has a lot of nice areas and a few not so nice.

Good luck!
