What is Schuykill Haven like?

I was wondering if anyone lives in/near this city, because I'm really curious about what it's like there. I was thinking of visiting it, and wondered what there is to do there.

Wink Not Much

Not much going on there as far as I remember, but it's been a while. Did you like the movie "The Deer Hunter"? Yeah, a little like that, but again - It's been a while.

I have been through Schuykill Haven several times. It looks like a working class town. Not much to do and nothing to see. Schuykill county is a depressed area on the decline and it shows.

Well, it wouldn't be for several years, before I would think of visiting it. A dear friend of mine was wanting to have a reunion and since there were some people from around philadelphia (and therebouts), it just seemed to be the central place to meet at, share an ice cream cone, and talk. Before heading back. From what I've heard, it really did sound like a pleasant enough place. Nice churches, small shops, etc.

I live about 20 miles away from Sch Haven and everyone is right, there is NOTHING to do. The area is economically depressed. No real nightlife, shopping or great restaurants outside of fast food. We travel to Reading or Harrisburg to shop and eat.
