I would also look at Titusville as well alot of bang for the buck on homes there and the area is quiet but they also have a Walmart right on the edge of town and other amenities as well and is a nice town to walk around and it is a safe place to live.
Some other places to look is the Parker, Emlenton, Foxburg area, between the Strattanville and Brookeville area, Knox area is another place to consider
and if you go over toward the Mercer/Butler county line area Harrisville, Grove City and maybe Slippery Rock as well and the you have some nice towns at around the outskirts of Butler that is very rural looking but close enough to Butler to go shopping eating and entertainment.
Good luck and reort what you decide.

I lived in Tidioute for a couple years. It's okay if you are older and/or have no children, but if you have kids I would suggest moving somewhere else, like North Clarion or the North Warren area (Tidioute has a school but it isn't much to brag about). Overall, the town is just like the rest of Western PA: kind of old and run-down, decreasing population. However, there is a grocery store and a convenience store/gas station in town that you can walk to. And if you're religious but also like to have a few drinks, there's a bar for every church in Tidioute.

lol so true.

South of Clarion gets less snow. Every time I cross I80 seems like there is always more snow. (Snowbelt) Warren is limited on jobs and to get anywhere you have to travel about an hour unless you want to hang out around town.

Clarion resident 10 years.
