Hello all-
We will be traveling down to PA and will be staying in Wellsboro, any suggestions for a good neighborhood bar/tavern?

None of the restaurants around here are too pretentious or formal. There are a few bars on main street, but I never go in them cause I'm not a bar person.

Timeless Destination is good usually but over the years I have found the service spotty.

The Wren's Nest in Mansfield is really good and the food is great.

The Manor Hotel is a 35 minute drive south of Wellsboro but I like to go down there to eat cause they have a nice deck to eat next to Pine Creek.

Tony's on main street is good for a quick pizza or sub.

Native Bagel has good sandwiches for lunch and breakfast.

The Frog's Hut is only open during the summer but they have burgers and ice cream.

I've avoid the Wellsboro Diner as it is an overpriced tourist trap and harland's and pudgies pizza the food is pretty poor.

Certainly bring the Harleys. It keeps the old geezers in town on their toes and something to complain about. Harley was going to open a factory here but the old farts in town shut that down. Can't have good paying jobs around here you know. So bring em down and let em rip.

You will love Wellsboro. My wife and I travel all over, and there is no place that comes close to Wellsboro.

That makes me even more excited! Thanks! Any suggestions on must sees, other than the "Grand Canyon"?

Well there is the excursion train that is running right now(Tioga Central).

Also haven't checked the water level in Pine Creek but with all the rain lately it may be high enough to do a kayak trip from Pine Creek Outfitters, which is highly recommended. That is probably my top activity to do around here.

Also you can do the rail to trails in the Grand Canyon and rent a bike and do a bike trip.

Mostly everything around here is oriented to simple outdoor activities.

There is some shopping in main street but mostly what is sold is what I call "dust collectors", you know little knicknacks that sit around on shelves and collect dust. There is also a candy store called Peggy's which has ice cream and homemade fudge.

I am the official good will spreader for Wellsboro in the Pittsburgh region LOL!

As Wanneroo said, that train ride is really cool. We took that on our honeymoon and only happened to learn about it by chance while in the Native Bagel shop. It was a great afternoon ride.

We love staying at Bed and Breakfasts, and I would highly recommend the Inn on the Green, or La Belle Au Berge.
