I have heard a lot of mixed rumors about the place. I plan on moving there with in the next month or so but heard that there are por-nazi groups. Someone please chime in. Thanks

I don't think "Safety" would be an issue, but putting all jokes aside, you would be dealing with a very backwoods type attitude toward you, I'm sure. Meaning ignorant, uncultured, you get the picture.

My wife and I are white as ghosts, and city slickers at heart, and you should see how some of the locals treat us in some of our favorite small towns in PA like Wellsboro and Jim Thorpe.

You're white and the locals treat you poorly? Or you're Asian and "white as ghosts?"

The proto-Nazis got run out of the county a couple of years ago at least. I posted a link to an account of this a while back, not sure how to search to bring it up again.

We are not Asian. We are caucasian. The point I was trying to illustrate is that we are caucasian and have run in to attitudes in the Coudersport, Galeton, Wellsboro area. It seems no matter what color or class you are, the locals in these areas, at times seem to have a dislike from outsiders. I can understand it to a point, but don't understand it to a point.

A lot of it has to do with how you act while you're there, as a general observation. I live in a tourist area and they can be pains to the locals.

Back to original question, many of the small towns in the NW tier have Asian residents.

Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Columbia, and Montour County would be a good fit.

Sunbury is possibly the lost diverse- with Lewisburg close to it in ethnic diversity.

The locals- IMO are more interested in quiet enjoyment of their life- rather then skin tone. So a group that actively tries to make the area a mini- NJ a mini NY- -the costly infrastructure- taxes- those folks will be ... not pleased.

Thanks for all your input. I don't really mind attitudes or stares. I am Asian but I grew up in America so I have a bit of that myself not that being an Asian American makes me snobby. I was more worried about the safety aspect. I don't plan on being there for too long. Probably a year or so. The move from where I'm at now will bring me closer to the East Coast (Boston) where my family stays.
