Again, if you want to retire here, consider looking into the best places to retire guides also. I cannot stress enough, i would think health care , things to do for seniors, and since eventually, even though we all hate to admit that we can't be driving forever, public transportation (or transportation for seniors) may be important. This area has none of the above. Carlisle, mechanicsburg, camp hill, gettysburg maybe... has more of that. hershey, lancaster, etc.. Just be careful, i see alot of elderly driving here when they shouldn't be, but they have no choice..

Ok, i'm sorry , i have found a senior center in shippensburg and a retirement community based on income. Called the cottages (from someone who lives there).. she said they have planned activities and she goes on some bus trips between the two. She did say that she has a daughter nearby (her only family and alot of friends) and since she doesn't drive they all help her. She does agree about the lack of good quality doctors and public transportation. She was in her 80's and said she didn't think of that when she retired here as she was in her 60's and driving at the time. She as an elderly retiree said carlisle , mechanicsburg area would have been better, but she wanted to be very close to her daughter.
