This thread has been MORE than helpful !!!!! We are moving to PA from Knoxville, TN. My kids (all boys) are 17, 13, and 7....MUST HAVE ARTS and great schools. My oldest is going to Temple and my 13-year-old son is a pre-professional drummer. School of Rock? AWESOME! I have no idea where to even START looking at places to live, but have heard from several that Downingtown is fantastic. Thanks everyone! Coming up the last week in March to start looking. I was a bit scared, but now am very excited.

If you're used to living near Stanford and you have kids who will be in public school, you definitely want Swarthmore (or another area in the Strath Haven catchment area) instead of Media. If lot size is less important and town camaradarie more important, Swarthmore is the best place in that catchment area for you. I grew up in Swarthmore and am now on the Main Line. The Main Line seems ridiculously materialistic- groups of friends seem completely predictable according to their houses' values. The Main Line is also much more politically conservative and full of people desperately trying to look rich.
