I have a relative who is considering filing for bankruptcy. She found an attorney up in Lewisburg who wants to charge her about $2,000. Does anyone have any experience with bankruptcy attorneys in the area, and does that price seem reasonable? I'm thinking to call some that are in Selinsgrove to see if the cost is reasonable.

If you'd rather not post here, feel free to PM me with any suggestions or comments.

Im not to familiar with PA prices in particular but that does sound about right. Its usually anywhere from $500 for a simple BK to upwards of $3000.

Thanks for the reply. I found an attorney right in Selinsgrove that only charges $1250 for a bankruptcy filing. On top of that, his fee includes a few things that my relative's attorney would have charged for. They wanted to charge her $175 to do an assessment on her house. The attorney in Selinsgrove doesn't charge for that. It's included in the price.

A law firm in Pittsburgh that specializes in bankruptcy goes by the name of Debt Doctors and charges $1200. Legal Aid will do it for $300 or can refer you to attorneys that will do it for $600.
