the theatre is nice for only the fact that it is nice and cheap i think its 5 for an adult adn 3.5 for kids. unlike DUBOIS where it is like 10 a person or 7.5 which is a little expensive or not what im used to. the theatre has two veiwing areas and a snack thing. many people go to dubois now cause of how non-appealing ours is. i bet the city would help you out and support it to contact them Index then ask the mayor or council, i think they would be thrilled. St.Marys is going through some big changes with the IMPACT st.marys project. we got a lot of new stores and talk of getting more. they are opening another industrial park by the airport which will bring more jobs in deffinatley. we have like 2 already so yeah. oh back to the theatre it neads a new coat of paint on the outside and maybe a big light up sign to draw attention, now it just has one of those overhang things that is junk. that is what they need more advertisment for the theatre so more than just teens go and i bet more would go. st.marys is nice for that small town feel but it is also growing to become the city it is. a lot of new stuff coming in specially for kids.

Very nice note and awesome to see your interest! Sorry if someone replied about this already...I lost where the thread went.

I'm a native of St. Marys, but am living down in State College (land of Penn State) after returning home from Colorado. I haven't been in it yet, but I believe a local family bought and has repaired/reopened the theater. I've seen it from the outside and it looks quite good. The facade of the building itself is pretty much the same...they did update the marque.

I've been dying to get in to see a movie when we've been home visiting, just haven't been able to. I was very excited to see someone LOCAL bought and invested in it...now it needs continued support and patronage!

Another priority in my mind with downtown is just across the street. The corner building on Center and North Michael (Route 255). A fire (which happens alot there it seems...e.g. the Franklin) gutted most of that building and I think it's still totally vacant. I'm sure the Council's looking at it, but with the recent issues with the owner of the Towne House and many other buildings on that street...it's hard. The former owner of that burned out building, and a few others on that street, is now bankrupt and in jail I believe. Super sad as he'd done some good things there. I digress...

So that's the news on the Theater...again sorry if someone already spoke about it.
