Prices like that are not uncommon for old houses in PA's rural areas.

It's deep in the Poconos, in a very small town, and pretty far away from the nearest major city.

Somewhat dying old town with no >$15/hr jobs anywhere nearby. Binghamton, which is probably the nearest city, isn't exactly a hotbed of jobs either. If you think that's cheap you should see some of the old coal in Schuylkill and Northumberland counties, you can get a house like that for less than half. The area is going through a bit of a mini-boom due to the natural gas leasing/drilling activity, but that's only really benefiting a relatively small amount of larger-tract landowners.

Speaking of Schuylkill. Be forwarned.

When you get into these depressed towns deep in rural areas, the populations are rather backwards conservatives to the extreme.

Not long ago a few teenagers beat a mexican to death. Most of the locals rallied behind the teenage boys in a very racist way. The jury found them innocent.
