My husband just got a possible job (yet to accept offer) in Doylestown PA. we have been living in TN for 3 yrs now and before that are from south eastern NJ. We are unfamiliar with the area and trying to get some neighborhood recommendations. We dont mind up to a 40ish minute commute.

We are looking to rent(for1-2yrs) either an apartment, townhouse or house but in a safe AND affordable area (DH is a teacher and we currently are living off 1 salary so low cost is a must- pref under $950 per month)

We have 2 young kids so having it be an area we can feel safe to take walks in and find parks is good. School systems isnt much of a worry right now because they are under 2yrs old and we plan on looking for a more permanent home up there after we get familiar w/ the area and have been there a couple years.

We are ok with multiple style neighborhoods. family friendly suburban areas are great but we also like the idea of living in a "downtown" kind of area where we can get around on foot. As long as it is a safer area to be in with young kids. So- we are flexible when it comes to area style

It would be nice to be closer to shopping and places to go but it isnt a must

Thanks in advance for any tips/advice!

Doylestown is an excellent choice if you can afford it. They have a great downtown, parks and excellent schools. There's also train service into Philly.

Ditto! on the above 2 posts. Great town and if you can find a townhouse or duplex in or close to downtown area you will be in excellent position to navigate the surrounding area. Bucks County school system consistently one of the best in the state.
