I have been looking at houses in central PA. I am amazed at the difference in taxes Williamsport and other towns. Taxes seem to be much lower in towns like Milton, Selinsgrove, Sunbury, etc.. Why does Williamsport have such high taxes?

Default High Taxes???!!!!

I think the taxes are reasonable even low ...I do not know about the rest of PA but I live in the city of williamsport...I have a property 60 x 202 and the house has 4200 square feet and we pay about 2300.00 per year..I came from Teaneck New Jersey and we had a property 50 x 100 and the house was 2100 square feet and we paid 9300.00 property tax ..... seams really quite reasonable

it costs money to run a city, have your streets paved and plowed, have our own police and fire departments ...other towns have all volunteer fire departments and stress the state police to police their towns ...williamsport has tons of public free events which all need to be paid for .... seams minimal for what you get....
