Can anyone give me any info on this park? Is it nice to visit? Picturesque? Good hiking trails? Any chance of seeing any wildlife? Just curious to know if its worth visiting. Couldn't find it in the AAA book and will be stopping at Penn's Cave, so would it be a good idea to make the trip up to it? Doesn't seem to far from the cave.

Bald Eagle State PARK doesn't have much besides a grassy area around a reservoir, I think some birders like it. Black Moshannon SP is considerably more interesting for relatively mild terrain (on a plateau top rather than in a valley).

If you're going to Penns Cave you will be surrounded by perhaps the best mountain hiking in the state, in the Bald Eagle and Rothrock State FORESTS. See here: PAHikes.com - Hiking in Central Pennsylvania and Around the State - the web guy is a Penns Valley resident.

FYI, part of its attraction is being near Bald Eagle State Forest. It is located in the NW corner of the map here: Bald Eagle State Forest Maps

Try Raymond B Winter for a quiet park and a nice swimming area.

Agree. Even though there can be people in the park, you get this feeling of hushed quietness there.

When I still lived in Williamsport I drove over there in the winter and tromped around in the snow for a day. It was nice--but not a park I'd go way out of my way to visit again.

If you want hiking, do the State Forests. State Parks are pretty small.

I have two favorite state parks in PA (that I've been to). Presque Isle and Trough Creek. TCSP has great hiking, PISP has great beaches. Take your pick!
