But Andrew Hoover of the American Civil Liberties Union said Pennsylvania shouldn't copy the Arizona law.

Anyone supporting any law against illegal/legal Hispanics (You will never see a cop stopping one of millions white illegal immigrant) immigrants in this country will start his/her the end of his/her political career in this country. The Hispanics community in USA is big and will become bigger. Vote is what matter in this country.
That's a reasonable observation.

Are you saying there are no white Hispanics?

After Christopher Columbus and during world war one and two millions of Europeans flee illegally/legally to this country too.
Also, remember all the millions of Americans Indians killed/black slave by whites and the orginized gangs/criminal mafias from Italian and other European countries. If you want to learn more watch history and discovery channel or visit any public library.
A lot of bad things can happen over 500 years.

Also, illegal immigration is the price USA is paying for stealing all the resources from Latin America countries.
Say what?

Sorry pal, I'm not buying your pathetic and uninformed attempt to promote 'white guilt.'

You better learn the history of the southwest before you spread such hyperbole.

After Christopher Columbus

Maybe you should open and read one of those history books. Christopher Columbus ushered in the Spanish invasion of the Americas. Instead of blaming white people for atrocities, you might want to put the mirror up to the Hispanics who decimated the indigenous people of the Americas.

I still think this bill leaves open the door for racial profiling. Yes the suspect has to have done something wrong first. But a traffic stop? So does that mean me, as a Hispanic Pennsylvanian, will have to prove my citizenship if I am stopped for a minor traffic violation? ...So instead of sitting on the road for 15 minutes like most people I can sit there for hours while they check my records through a bunch of government agencies. I'm not saying that will happen but it could. There is no way I would carry around my ss card and birth certificate with me everywhere I go so hopefully driver's license is enough, lol.

But I think the bigger problem is one of perception for Pennsylvania. Even if the law can be crafted in a way that is fair and makes sense people will think it is like Arizona's law. I don't want my state to be talked about in the same breath as Arizona. I also don't want people avoiding Pennsylvania and not spending their tourist dollars here.

We can only hope! There are far too many Democrats flooding in to this state from NY already.

technically, they were white people from spain...though, it's not exactly unusual for one population to decimate the population of another in the context of history. it's only modern civilization that feels bad about it (which is probably a good thing).

just so we're all clear: hispanic is NOT a race.

If we can do both of these things, then it would curb the illegal immigration problem while still being open to immigrants.
bingo, streamline and liberalize current rules and enforce them better and get rid of loopholes like H1B. there are exceptions. for example, the mushroom farms of chester county have been hiring mexican workers for ages because the work is intense and seasonal. mexcians can work a season and lilve off that money for the rest of the year. if those workers were banned from working here, it's likely the work wouldn't be done by anyone rather than by mexicans since costs are already high there, if they went up more to pay for 12 months of employment for Americans, it's likely they couldn't compete on the workd market and many of the farms would fold...for better for worse.
latinmusic-with all do respect, hispanics and other minorities also do drugs. the problem isn't white people, but the drug war. people do drugs, we need to admit that as a country and stop pretending production can be stopped. It does contribute a destabilizing force in many latin countries (to say nothing of places like Afghanistan). That said, war isn't a white thing, white people jsut had better technology and won in recent centuries. The Incas had been busy fighting and conquering numerous Indian civilizations as they grew their empire. In fact, the reason the Mapuche still exist is they had been fighting off the Incas for years when the spaniards arrived and had become a fierce, warlike society (oh, and their land had no gold). simply blaming whites isn't going to accomplish anything. there have been plenty of wars in Africa as well. black west africans were the first to discover iron in Africa and then set about killing off all other tribes that existed where fertile land existed. this is why pygmies only exist in one small, central area of Africa. Egyptions routinely murdered Nubians and stole their wealth. people are people. And let's be honest, for all the bad things our country has done, we didn't force Mexico to be a corrupt, socialist state. Chile is proving that success can be achieved in latin america is corruption and state run companies are curtailed. bringing the point full circle, Americans do have to realize that immigration isn't just influenced by what we do here, but what we do (or don't do) abroad. eliminating trade barriers and trading/influencing liberalization with other countries is a far more effective way of curbing mass immigration than simply putting up a fence. And yes, we need to be able to admit that we make mistakes. as for PA, I just don't see it as a major problem here. it's far less of a problem than the 9.99% corp income tax rate and the fact the state is best known for asinine liquor laws and bureacracy.
