Hi! I am a young (late 20`s), single professional moving to Pensacola for work. (work is in Escambia County). I am interested in renting an apartment in a nice, safe neighborhood that is not hit by hurricanes (if possible), no flooding, no jet noise and where there is no/minimal crime. My rental budget is flexible.

What are the diferences between Fort Walton, Destin, Crestview and Niceville? I understand these are the most affluent areas.

Any thoughts on Pace? I understand it was hit by Hurricane Ivan. What about Navarre-a suburb of Pace?

Any information/advice you can kindly provide me would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU in advance!

E.

If you are working in Pensacola, you really don't want to commute from Ft. Walton/Niceville/Pensacola unless your employer lets you do a couple days at home every week. You're looking 2-3 hours a day on the road.

I'd probably look in Gulf Breeze or the Scenic Hills part of Pensacola. You might get a little bit of jet noise in south Scenic Hills but it's otherwise a very nice area with a good location.

Thanks beachmouse for the info.
I read that Gulf Breeze has received several direct hits and several blows from numerous hurricanes. Is there any other town close to Pensacola with similar characteristics like Gulf Breeze but is not exposed as badly to hurricanes? Any insights on Milton and Pace? I researched Scenic Hills but didn´t find much information. Any sources you would recommend checking out?

Thank you so much for your assistance!
