We are contemplating a move to Pensacola. It's been many years since I went to Naval flight school there and I'm sure much has changed. We are retired folk looking for a clean, quiet, no kids neighborhood that has no multi-racial problems without locating ourselves in a retirement community. What areas should be avoided due to crime and run down status? Certainly would appreciate any good input you can offer.

Well, it's hard to pick out one specific part of Pensacola that is the "good" or "bad" part of town. You would probably want to stay away from Warrington, West Pensacola, and Brent. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of price range are you guys looking at? Also, what do you mean by multi-cultural problems?

There are, surprisingly, a lot of college students and younger people in the pensacola area. The best area for seniors I would say ( in terms of cleanliness, companionship, and quietness ) would be the actual Pensacola Beach Condos in Santa Rosa County. Warrington and Escambia have MANY problems- pollution, highest taxes in the state.... I would more-so recommend locating to lower Florida where there is a higher number of seniors.

Moving to Pensacola
Thanks all for the help and info on Pensacola. Did manage to get there for a few days recently and looked around. The north side of the town looked pretty nice in several areas. Out west of town didn't have much appeal. South Florida looks to be too crowded/congested in general. Thanks again for the input.
