Hey all~
My husband and I are currently living in the Houston, Texas area. We relocated here because of his job but are looking to get out asap.

We are considering the Florida panhandle but not sure what city would be best for us. We are considering Pensacola, FWB and the Destin area.

We have two children, ages 7 and 9, so good schools are important. We also want to be close to nice parks and maybe a rec center/YMCA. We are looking to rent for maybe 6 months to a year and then purchase a home.

Any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Most important question: Where are your jobs? If near Pensacola, for good schools and a family-oriented community, check out Gulf Breeze.

Gulf Breeze has great schools. Expensive and touristy though. May want to look at Niceville. It is a town close to Destin.

Niceville is great, and has exceptional schools. It does lack a YMCA/Rec center, as does the entire county, they have all closed. But some have reopened to become privately run pools. But there are lots of other things to do here. And as noted we are very near destin. That being said, it is not exactly cheap to rent or buy in the area, as it is in high demand due to the multitude of nearby military bases.

Of course that all depends on your budget and house requirements.
