This is a random question but my wife and I just moved to Fort Walton Beach. Now we're looking at going a little further west to Pensacola. There is a chance that I may get a better job in Orange Beach, AL. Meanwhile my wife is probably going to be offered a job at University of West Florida.

My question is, are there some good neighborhoods in the West Pensacola area that would be somewhere in the middle. I would prefer my wife not have to drive more than 20-30 min to UWF. I'm willing to drive a little longer to Orange Beach.

Can anybody familiar with the area give me some feedback?

Look on and around Perdido Key. Pretty part of the world. Not too far from UWF and close to Orange Beach.

That looks like it would be a pretty long commute right through town to get to UWF. What about places like
Myrtle Grove, West Pensacola, Bellview, Warrington, Brent etc? We're looking somewhere in the Bellview area. I'd like to be maybe 20-30 min from UWF tops and hopefully around 40 min to Orange Beach.

West Pensacola is generally pretty dumpy. If you’re willing to do all of the commuting, I’d look at the area right near UWF and the golf course... otherwise, maybe Lillian right on the state line or somewhere near the dog track.

You are likely right. I'm moving down there from Atlanta, so commutes around an hour seem pretty good to me!

Living anywhere off of Hwy 98 will take her around 45 min to UWF. Northeast Pensacola has many nice areas as well as the 9 Mile Rd area. The 9 Mile Rd area would be very close for her to get to UWF. Northeast, anywhere near I-10 would be about 10-20 minutes to get to UWF, however your commute will be a hike. There are nice neighborhoods in Myrtle Grove and Perdidio areas, but her commute will be brutal. Pensacola is very spread out and either option will have you driving a lot. Anyway your job can be closer to UWF?
