Wife and I want to find a place for a very special anniversary. Would like to find an upscale boutique venue on the Gulf waters. We're flexible with location but want it to be very nice. Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

It all depends on dates.

The list posted earlier has a really strange idea of "boutique". Many of those are giant resorts.

Are you wanting fine dining and local shops?

If upscale is what you want, I'd look at The Pearl. But it isn't directly ocean front. Rosemary Beach has a lot of nice restaurants and small shops that are high priced.

Watercolor is ocean front, but I wouldn't really call it a boutique place at all. It's right next to Seaside which has....... a lot of nice restaurants and small shops that are high priced.

I'm really only familiar with the Destin to Panama City area. Especially 30A. Maybe someone local can come up with some other choices.

Has anyone had an experience staying at The Henderson Park Inn?

I'd look farther down the Gulf Coast in November, much better weather by far.

Boutique? try most any upscale place in Sarasota, Lido Key, Longboat Key and of course Anna Maria Island. Much better choices away from the Panhandle that time of year IMHO.

We stayed there years ago. I wouldn't call it boutique.

You might look at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama. It's a really nice resort on Mobile Bay, just minutes from adorable Fairhope, Alabama, with it's cute shops and good restaurants.

Experience? Yes. Recommend? No.

I guess it would help people help you if you were a bit more specific about wants and needs for your trip. Boutique on the gulf is a pretty broad category.

Area? Price point? Amenities?

The Grand is romantic and has several great restaurants. Fairhope rocks! But, the Grand is not on the beach (I wouldn't call Mobile Bay a good place to lay out on the beach or go for a swim, but the view is pretty). We live in Orange Beach and occasionally travel to the Grand for a night away from home.
